The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended a flood advisory for Kaua´i until 5:30 pm Wednesday.

At 2:05 pm, radar and rain gages showed some heavy rain over the Kapa´a area on the east side. Additional thunderstorms just south of Kaua´i are moving to the north and are expected to move onshore from Kalaheo to Kekaha. Rain fall rates in the heaviest showers could reach 2 inches per hour. Portions of Kūhiō Highway continue to be obstructed due to recent rains and landslides.

A flash flood watch is also in effect for the entire state of Hawai´i until 6 pm Friday.

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.
