Wind, Flood Advisories Issued for Garden Island
5:10 AM HST Wed Feb 3 2021: National Weather Service in Honolulu
The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a flood advisory until 8:15 a.m.
* At 5:10 AM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over Kaua‘i. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. This advisory has been extended to 10 a.m.
* Locations in the advisory include the entire island of Kaua‘i. The DLNR Division of State Parks has closed the Kalalau Trail due to flash flooding.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.
Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don’t drown.

WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM HST THIS EVENING
* WHAT: Southwest to west winds 20 to 30 mph with localized gusts over 50 mph expected.
* WHERE: Kaua‘i, Ni‘ihau and O‘ahu.
* WHEN: Until 6 p.m. this evening.
* IMPACTS: Winds this strong are capable of downing trees and causing power outages.

Motorists should use extra caution while driving.
