Katie Lynn Guastella first hiked the Awa‘awapuhi Trail three years ago when she arrived in Kaua‘i as a travel nurse. Since then, she’s done it 20 times and continues to be amazed by the beauty of the Nā Pali Coast.

On Friday, Guastella shared the experience with a friend who had never done the hike. She shot a video when they arrived at the end, which showed sweeping views of the cliffs and the lush green beauty of the Garden Island.

“The first time you go up there and come out of the woods, jungle and ferns you arrive at the cliffs and feel like you’re on top of the world,” Guastella said Saturday. “Hearing the goats, seeing the ocean, watching the birds fly beneath you, it’s just a beautiful feeling.”

“We just need to go out and find it,” she said.
