Brown Water Advisories Issued for Various Locations on Garden Island
Brown Water Advisories were issued at various locations on the Garden Island.
Advisories are for the Northshore, Hanalei to Lumahai, Koloa Landing, as well as on the eastside in Wailua to Kealia. The advisories come after a flash flood warning was issued fo the island.
According to the Department of Health’s Clean Water Branch, stormwater runoff has resulted in stormwater runoff entering into coastal waters. The public is advised to stay out of flood waters and storm water runoff due to possible overflowing cesspools, sewer, manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals, and associated flood debris.
Not all coastal areas may be impacted by runoff, however, if the water is brown stay out.
