Weight restrictions have been instituted on three bridges in Kapa‘a until further notice.

According to the Department of Public Works, the restrictions are applied to vehicular traffic mauka (West) of Puhi Ditch Bridge on Kawaihau Road, Akulikuli Bridge #2 on Kahuna Road, and the Yasutake Bridge located 0.6 miles northeast of Kamalu Road will be restricted to 3.5 tons.

For Yasutake Bridge, all vehicles above 3.5 tons – including emergency vehicles, fire trucks, utility trucks, and buses – are required to detour via Olohena Road, Pu‘uopae Road, and Opaeka Road.

Access to the upper Kapahi Area above Puhi Ditch Bridge and Akulikuli Bridge #2 for vehicles, trucks, or equipment above 3.5 tons will require a special permit which will be issued by the Department of Public Works, Engineering Division. Contact the Donald Fujimoto at 808-242-4882 or [email protected] to apply for the special permit.
