Wilcox Medical Center to Roll Out COVID-19 Vaccine to Kaua‘i Community
Kūpuna within the Kaua‘i community will be eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine starting Friday, Jan. 15.
In conjunction with the state’s COVID-19 vaccination plan, Wilcox Medical Center will begin administering the Pfizer vaccine to adults ages 75 and older. The vaccine clinics will be open to patients of Wilcox Medical Center and Kaua‘i Medical Clinic, as well as the general public.
“We’re pleased to be able to offer these community vaccination clinics to our kūpuna, who continue to be among the most vulnerable populations to COVID-19,” said Jen H. Chahanovich, president and CEO of Wilcox Medical Center and CEO of Kaua‘i Medical Clinic. “As we look ahead, further vaccine clinics are in the works for other groups based on state guidelines. The vaccine is an important tool in the fight against COVID-19 to help keep our community well, and we encourage everyone to take advantage of the opportunity to get it when it is available to them.”
Vaccine clinics will take place at Wilcox Medical Center in Līhu‘e, and are scheduled as follows:
·Friday, Jan. 15 – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
·Tuesday, Jan. 19 – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
·Thursday, Jan. 21 – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
·Friday, Jan. 22 – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Vaccinations are available by appointment only. To begin the process, adults ages 75 and older can complete the online appointment request form at WilcoxHealth.org/Vaccine. A representative will follow-up to schedule an appointment.
Patients of Wilcox and Kaua‘i Medical Clinic who have a MyChart® by Hawai‘i Pacific Health account will also be sent a notification through MyChart when they can sign up for an appointment. Patients who do not already have an account are encouraged to create one online at MyChart.HawaiiPacificHealth.org, as it will be the easiest way to schedule an appointment.
Walk-ins will not be accepted. People with appointments should use the side entrance to Wilcox Medical Center next to the Infusion Center when arriving at the medical center.
Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital and Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital will also be offering vaccination clinics. Additional clinics will be planned in the upcoming weeks as more vaccine shipments arrive.
