No Reuse Donation Drive in December, Event to Resume in January
Due to the Salvation Army’s bell-ringing donation drive, there will not be a County Reuse Drop-Off event in December. The program has been very successful, sending almost 100 tons of material to O‘ahu for reuse that would otherwise be landfilled.
“The people of Kaua‘i want to do the right thing and it shows,” said Mayor Derek S. K. Kawakami. “Your donation not only keeps good and useful items out of our landfill, but it also helps those most in need that the Salvation Army services.”
The next event will be on Friday, Jan. 8, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kaua‘i Resource Center (KRS) located at 3460 Ahukini Road.
Everyone is encouraged to visit their local thrift stores, as many have reopened. If your items are not accepted at a thrift store, you can utilize the reuse cart in front of the KRC to drop-off donations. The reuse cart is available Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The cart is for small donations only, if you have a large donation, call the County’s Recycling Office to make an appointment. The County cannot assist with unloading donations at these appointments, so bring help if unloading large items.
Visit the County’s Reuse page at www.kauai.gov/reuse to see list of local donation options including home pick-up service. For more information or to make an appointment call 808-241-4841.
