NWS Issues Red Flag Warning For Kaua‘i, Ni‘ihau
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the leeward portions of Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau, in effect from 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, until 6 p.m., Monday, Aug. 31. The warning may be extended, dropped or modified as conditions develop.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will occur shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. A Red Flag Warning does not predict new fire starts.
Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly in these conditions, according to the National Weather Service. The public should not participate in any outdoor burning.
