No new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Kaua‘i County and there are currently two active cases.

During a daily briefing on Monday, Mayor Derek Kawakami said the positive cases are in isolation and the close contacts are in quarantine. While the case count remains low on the Garden Island, Kawakami said statewide numbers are rising at an alarming rate.

Hawai‘i Department of Health reported a record number of daily case counts of 207, bringing statewide totals to 2,448. Kaua‘i remains at 47. Many of the cases have been identified on O‘ahu, with the virus widespread in Honolulu communities.

“This is a reminder that any travel to and from Kaua‘i is a risk and recreational travel should be avoided,” the mayor stated.
