Kaua‘i Weekly Road Closures: June 20-26

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announced closures for the week of June 20-26. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

LĪHU‘E (NIGHT WORK)

Single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) in both directions, between mile markers 2 and 4, on Monday evening, June 22, through Friday morning, June 26, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., for guardrail installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

Full closure of Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) at the ‘Ele‘ele Pedestrian Bridge on Sunday evening, June 21, through Monday morning, June 22, from 11 p.m. to approximately 5 a.m., for the removal of the ‘Ele‘ele Pedestrian Overpass concrete deck. Traffic will be detoured through the ‘Ele‘ele Shopping Center lot.

KĪLAUEA (NIGHT WORK)

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in both directions between mile markers 15.5 and 16.7, on Sunday evening, June 21, through Friday morning, June 26, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., for paving work. Alternating traffic is routed through the open northbound lane.

KĪLAUEA

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in the southbound direction, in the vicinity of mile marker 25, on Monday, June 22, through Friday, June 26, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for slope stabilization work. Alternating traffic is routed through the open northbound lane.

Single lane closure and shoulder work on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in the eastbound direction between North Ko‘olau Road and Kapuna Road, on Tuesday, June 23, through Friday, June 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for tree trimming work.

KAPA‘A (24-HOUR WORK)

Traffic on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) near mile marker 10 is shifted to the temporary Kapa‘a Stream Bridge 24-hours a day, seven days a week until further notice. For safety during the shift to the temporary bridge, right turns off Kuhio Highway onto Mailihuna Road are not permitted. Access to Kapahi is recommended via the Kawaihau Road or Hauala Road detours.

PORT ALLEN

Single lane closure on Waialo Road (Route 541) in both directions, in the vicinity of mile marker 0, on Monday, June 22, through Friday, June 26, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for waterline work.
