Body Found Inside Overturned Vehicle in Hanamāʿulu River

A deceased man was found Sunday inside an overturned vehicle in Hanamāʿulu River, the Kaua‘i Police Department stated in a press release on Tuesday, Jan. 4.

At approximately 5:25 p.m., a flipped vehicle in the river — just before the Hanamāʿulu Beach Park entrance — was reported to Kauaʿi Police Department Dispatch. When the vehicle was removed from the river, a deceased male was discovered inside.

The identity of the decedent is pending.

The time of occurrence and cause of the accident remain under investigation by KPD’s Traffic Safety Section. Anyone who may have information regarding this incident is requested to contact 241-1711.
