The Hawaiʻi Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation will share updates, receive feedback, and explore best practices on the relocation plans for the Kauaʻi Community Correctional Center next Saturday.

The symposium, “Pathways for Reentry from Incarceration: A Community Symposium for the Future of KCCC,” invites the Kauaʻi community and media to learn about the correctional center and the importance of community collaboration in the justice system.

Kauaʻi Mayor Derek Kawakami, Kauaʻi Community Correctional Center Warden Jerry Jona, Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Director Tommy Johnson, and expert rehabilitation panelists are set to speak.

The symposium will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Kauaʻi Community College Performing Arts Center in Līhuʻe on Saturday, Jan. 25. It will also be livestreamed via Zoom, so community members as well as reporters who are unable to attend in person may attend virtually by registering here.
